100km Training – The Royal National Park, NSW

The weekend before last I walked with some of the group who I’ll be walking with for the actual Sth Syd 2 Sth Coast walk. Here are the pictures of the entire national park. The first half were taken when I did the first half of the walk a few weeks earlier. This time we did the whole thing which was 30km. Starting in the quaint little township of Bundeena and going all the way to Otford Lookout.

There was such varying terrain through the park. Sometimes it was sand pathways surrounded by prickly bushes, sometimes rocky cliff expanses, sometimes metal grids laid across marshland, sometimes green pastures that reminded me of NZ or the UK and made me slightly homesick. Then we’d transfer into chest high grass with trench paths. Then we’d cross beaches, And at one point we were in dense jungle growth – palms so densely growing that they block out the light! It was absolutely spectacular scenery and made the walk so interesting.
